It's looking really impressive, I'm wondering if people might have a bit of difficulty finding it, but design-wise it's nicer than the Secret Garden is at the moment!

Will have to pop in there for some chips or something, but it's definitely lovely to have another food outlet :D.
Nah it'll be found easily. There is a nice big sign next to Dragon Bar, to the right of Secret Garden.

The Steak House looks extremely nice, due to the decor. But what's the food like?

Oh dear, my mistake. I just pray to god that the food is acceptable, and not another tacky restaurant.

I think they could have done with a few floor tiers or stud wall kind of things in the middle to break up the room a bit, but thats just me being picky.

They probably will use dividers to break up the room but my money will be on the mobile ones (basically its like a fence with feet), or maybe even lightweight blockwork thats easily moved. I'm more eagerly awaiting to see the entrance though, as both the other resturants have nicely decorated entrances.

It's just not very often you see a restaurant which is one big open room. As for the entrance I see what you mean, there's a big stone over the door that says Emperor but I do think it needs a better one, Flambo's has the "pipe" gates with the pots and pans and Secret Garden has the wall with metaal gates so yer it needs a better entrance.

Hey everyone just returned from alton towers for a 2 night break for caribbean beach party weekend and in the hotel rooms I had a read through the 2011 room pack and it clearly states that this restuarant will only be open during peak times. It isn't very big atall had a good sneak peak inside and all looks ready but no sign of any staff training menus etc I spoke to a member of the tram and they do not have a opening date set this weekend was classed as a peak with 1300 hotel guests in over the too hotels pretty busy for a weekend in january but no sign of life in the new restaurant as of yet. Got some infor about scarefest 2011 so will open a new tpoic for that!

My understanding is that the room will continue to be made available for conferences even though its a restuarant so that could partly explain why it won't be open all of the time. Also, there probably isn't enough demand for it.

To anybody who hasn't seen what the room looked like before the theming, theres a 360o tour here (click on Emperor's Suite). :D

Such an improvement! :D

I think that as the theme park grows, the restaurant will eventually be permanently open. I think that'll be in less than five years time, probably when the next Secret Weapon arrives and they have to start thinking about expanding the hotels.

Just in case we didn't establish this, the new restaurant is called Emperor's Grill

Looks good. Any developement in the AT Hotel is positive as far as I'm concerned. If it means the other areas are quieter during 'peak' then thats good too.

The theming in the restaurant is very nice, much better than when I saw it a few months ago when it was only half-finished.

Its too open though, it still feels a bit like a conference suite. There needs to be more screens to break up the room and make it less echo-y and more private.
I don't think the entrance is very good either, it doesn't stand out enough, it would be pretty easy to miss. It would be beneficial if they could bring the entrance forward so it is closer to the secret garden entrance.

They aren't really criticisms, just a few points where I believe the restaurant could be improved.

Overall, its a fantastic addition to the resort.

Just like Nemesis, the AT Hotel is dug into the ground to keep it under the tree line. What you are seeing here is a retaining wall outside of the window.. It's mainly just at this side of the hotel but there is a channel/walkway between the hotel and the wall to allow for fire escapes etc.

Splash Landings had even further excavation work, with ground level at the monorail side being almost as high as the roof.

It's a window to some illuminated stones.
