General discussion regarding the UK's No.1 Theme Park. Talk about anything and everything Alton Towers here.

I reckon we could have pics of all of us in scarefest costume on our calender.

Exactly, that photo could be used for either the front cover, or jan 2013 pictures.

Although if that happens and we do decide to sell it, we would be restricting the sales to ttf members only...

Well abit disapointed with this but atleast they havent tried to make money from it. The shots are more tasteful than I was first expecting but they look very amature though and I know afew people who could have done a better job.

To be quite honest that comment is uncalled for pete, you might not find any of them attractive but there was a better way to express your opinion than name calling. At the end of the day they are still human beings with feelings like everyone else. [mini rant over]

People think highly of you too.

You know I don't agree with what Alton Towers have done here (I'd rather just have a calender with rides on) but I think that is just wrong.

I mean what did you expect? A bunch women with their tits hanging out smearing along the side of the coaster train?

Grow up.

I'm so pleased that my comment has provoked such a reaction. It's really no wonder AT haven't decided to sell this and no I didn't expect titties. Like I said the red head on the banner looks nice, its a nice shot, but its not in the the calendar itself.

My problem is the fact that out of 1000 girls this was the best they could get? None are particulary photogenic, and the photography isn't even tasteful. Half of those girls look respectable but the remaining half look like chavs and wannabe slappers.

I agree with Blaze, it's all very ammature!

As a photography student myself and being an amateur photographer even I can say those photographs are dire, in fact if a professional photographer took those images I'd be worried of how well they know how to use a camera.

It looks like someone from the marketing team has just bought a £30 camera from Argos and taken the photos tbh. Both from a photographic and artistic (photography is an art in itself) point of view those images do nothing for me. The framing is wrong, the lighting is a bit off, the flash photography looks terrible and the photographer has taken the images in such a way that makes all the images look like something anyone could do. My eyes aren't visually pleased at all.

To be fair, those girls aren't ugly, but they're not "cuties" by any means (in my opinion) and I'm trying not to be too harsh here as I'd rather not be offending anyone. They could have done better in choosing the girls, well... Diogo summed the girls up brilliantly: "They all look like the leftovers at 3am in an Essex night club"
We really should just make our own TTF calender. We could have girls on one side, and flip it over for guys on the other side. Who's with me?
:P As much as I laughed at that. To be fair, it's a pretty good idea. We could even turn it into a closed season game, where members can submit photos and we can vote for our favourites? I think it'd be quite a laugh to see what us TTF'ers could come up with for images for a calender. We'd sure be better looking... and be 1000x better at photography too. :P

I'd be so hot for this if I was attracted to women and if Th13teen was anything approaching a good ride.
AstroDan

Some peoples comments on this are disgusting. Having looked through, there are many "girl next door" types and it's not like they're all anorexic nor done up like sluts either.

I think they all look perfectly nice. Good luck some of you with your standards.

:)
Moley

So many angles to look at this idea and the reactions to it and all of them can be summarised by the scientific term "meh"

True.

But then it's more of the way in which the photographer has directed (or not) these images. Pictures can be highly manipulated and just at the core of photography the way in which you make use of the lighting, the framing, the background and the main subject can highly influence the way in which a person will see that photograph.

In this case the images, they just aren't exciting at all, they are very bland images and lack character - this in itself makes the girls look very bland and lack any sense of character.

They do look fine, but I believe it's more of the way the images have been done that makes these girls look particularly worse than they should.

Dan's right, comments like this are disgusting.

Could you divide up for me also the "chavs" and the "wannabe slappers" from the other half? Because as far as I can see, they all look like attractive women posing around a rollercoaster in similar clothing. :?

I'll be amazed if you ever get a woman as attractive as any of the women on this calendar Pete.

From a professional point of view, it's a bit of a PR disaster.

From a personal point of view, I'd try my luck with the one wearing glasses in the front row.
Dormiens-Dave

I'm just amused how when this was announced the forum was filled with "ohh my god this demeans women" to it been released and we get what can only be described as sexist tripe suddenly flooding the boards. The ironic thing is i can't image the guys on here who are spouting out the tasteless jibes about the women on this calendar really have a chance with any of them.

I thought this was bad marketing when it was announced, i think the finished product is poorly made and i think some of the guys on here need to get out more :D

Ditto.

If I could choose one to be rejected and laughed at by, it would definitely be her.

at the end of the day, as a girl, i respect all the girls for entering and having a go at it, im sure if they heard some of the comments being made about them in a personal sense they wouldnt like it one bit. So really, thumbs up to the girls willing to give it a shot!

and im glad glasses are a plus too! normally us specs get stick! especially being a fake ginger too.... :P

hats off to the girls, and better effort from AT next time? :)

This is exactly why I had my mini rant about being completely against this kind of thing. People think that because those girls have had their picture taken then it makes them open to criticism.

It saddens me to see such disrespectful and stereotypical comments towards the girls in the calendar, those girls could be Mothers, business women, wives. Thanks to the calendar they've now just become an object for criticism. Anyway I'm wandering off topic slightly here... I despise the actual calendar as much as I did the concept. It's demeaning towards women and they've been 'used' as objects to publicise the ride.

I really do need to live a few centuries ago, I'm so old fashioned :P . I just think it's unfortunate that Towers, of all places, have resorted to sexual appeal to market themselves.
