There are different restraint at AT but personally I prefer the Oblivion, Air straps that come over your head.
I had a scary experience last time I went. Me and my friend were on the Runaway Mine Train and our lapbar come off and we were like WTF and I was holding on for dear life
LOL!

Dear life? It's maximum speed is 22mph at peak.. LOL!
I find this poll void though as certain restraints are needed for certain rides. Gravity is a factor involved too.
Whatever keeps you safe but remaining the best possible ride experience.

My favourite restraint, and probably most other people's is Air. The Neoprene makes the ride very comfortable.
My least favourite OTSR has been be Rita, prefer the B&Ms much more.
And, I do find that sometimes it feels as if the restraint closes further at the start of the launch, which can be uncomfortable.

I like the air restraints but dispise the smell of the rubber ones!
Depends entirely on the ride. Some rides are made by the lack of OTSR, others in my opinion need such a restraint. OTSR help to increase a sense of security. Lapbars do the opposite, so its entirely down to the ride really.

OMG, that's almost happened to me soo many times luckily the ride ops spot it before it sets out... nearly happened once on Rita too

Air - Don't like, the torso bit is good but the ankle restraints bother me a bit. I realise they're necessary so I shouldn't moan but the position they put my legs in have given me cramp a couple of times.
Nemesis - Since going on Innfusion at Blackpool I've really started to appreciate how good the Nemmy restraints are.
Ripsaw - I'm always filled with fear when the restraint arrows into my crotch.
Rita - I always though the restraints there are more obtrusive than they have to be. I think they could be a bit slimmer.
Oblivion - I like.

How did that happen on Rita? It has a belt to ensure the restraints wont fail!

Restraints on RMT are not checked automatically and therefore can be sent open. Rita cannot be sent with the harness open so Im sorry but it couldnt not have possibly happened, unless there was a mechanical problem which would result in the ride being closed for several days.

I find on the whole the type of restraint suits the ride pretty well at AT, but the one I dread is Submission - first the OTSR, then if not squashed enough already, the *ooooofffff* lap 'bar' comes squeezing into you. Certainly makes you secure, just a bit thinner after each ride.

Nemesis and Oblivion restraints are practically the same.
Back in the days of the Black Hole when we hit the brakes the harness shot forward a little bit. Was worrying, but then to be fair there was two big guys in the car...

Never said it did happen... basically the restraint clicked but wouldn't come down all the way, couldn't get the belt in, got noticed though.
Just to add, it would probably've held... still bloody scary though.

I like overhead restraints because they feel safer than lapbars. Spinball feels practically lethal when you have your arms up, I nearly got whiplash, but that's part of the fun. I don't like Air restraints much though, the torso bit is fine, but the ankle restraints are a bit uncomfortable, I felt like my legs were slipping last time I went on.

You do realise if the restraint did fail, that belt would do sod all, don't you? :P
Its weak as anything, imagine someone's entire body being put on one thin bit of material... it'd just rip out. Its there for peoples mental security really, just to make people feel better.
Mind you, I've ridden coasters without them (SAW) and it feels strange not plugging something in haha!

Its a seatbelt Mankey... the same as there is in a car. It is strong enough to restrain people in a car accident, so I would suggest it is strong enough to hold a coaster restraint down.
Heck, people have been found still strapped into their seats after a plane crash! Seatbelts are strong things!
Also, the seatbelt is also there to ensure that the restraints are closed to a safe level. i.e The seatbelt must be able to plug in, or the harness isn't locked down low enough.

Its not a belt though, its a piece of material with a buckle, that's it... there's no extension to it or anything, meaning if a lot of stress is put on both sides, it wont hold... belts lock in a different way.
If you look at some of Nemesis's ones, they're fraying at the sides... I dunno about you, but I wouldn't trust my life with them, which is why more recent models have them removed, as they're pointless. Silver Star doesn't have them and that's probably a ride which needs them most if they're to do what they're made to do.
The last point you made however I agree with! That is probably the only thing it's useful for though! Haha!
