With construction almost complete and closed season almost upon us, which will make any major construction updates and photos a rarity, it has been decided to merge together Ride, theme & construction discussion in to 1 topic.

This should also help make discussion flow more freely and feel less fragmented.

The Viral/Marketing and also Ugland/Rita 2010 threads will remain active. The current Ride/Construction and Theme threads are now locked.

For reference, the last ride discussion topic can be found Here

Construction Topic Here and last, but not least, the previous Theme discussion is a mere Click away

Also, just a quick reminder of the Sub Forum guidelines.

Well lets kick this thing off shall we. What do you think the trains will be like? I'm hoping that in December they will make an advert that will show what the trains will look like. Or maybe they are there in the Splash Landings car park in the mystery red boxes? :D

Ahh punctuation, how I love thee.

I answer to your question, I think whatever these trains are they are gonna be heavy. Like I said in the previous topic, compared to all other similar rollercoasters we've ever seen from "top-tier" manufacturers, especially Intamin, the lifthill and drop seem ridiculously over-supported. If the trains were just your standard sit-down coaster trains, there'd be no need for such an extensive "grid" support structure and arms that "branch off" the structure. Either it's cheaper for Intamin to make these kind of hideously ugly supports, or your right and we're missing something to do with the trains!

To be honest I considered it for extra support, perhaps giving bi-rail the force withstanding abilities of tri-track therefore allowing speed at little cost.

i think that maybe like a mega lite train will make the air time on the hills much cooler and smoother but if we are looking at the trains being the worlds frist element it will be a amzing ride ooo and soz about the speling and punchuation and deslexic

Another piece of evidence pointing to heavy trains is the track layout itself. It's a short track, with a big first drop, but from then on the ride is pretty low. Also, there are feeder wheels on the final hill, which is still quite a lot lower then the first drop. The ride must lose a lot of energy on it's route, much like 4D coasters and Flyers do too.

I can see the ride cars being something special, but they can't be very wide looking at construction so far, so what's special is anybodys guess!

Its not low. If you look at the plans you can see that some of the highest hills in the woods are the same height as the bottom of the first drop, and the plans show some pretty big drops in the woods.

Therefore this shows that the track is constantly going down building up speed. Like i've said before, i think the 2nd "lift hill" will be to slow the train down as it goes up to the building rather than to help it up the hill

In the old forums people kept saying that the ride looked a lot bigger than in the pictures. I disagree but I think the track looks a lot thicker having actually seen it. It is bi-rail but I’m sure it thicker then the sections of bi-rail on Colossus.

Oh and In case no one knows this yet the lift hill emergency path is constructed and the trains won’t be more than 2 across (or lean a long way to the right of the track only).

Perhaps the trains themselves have to carry complex new parts which engage with the technical worlds first element? Perhaps such precision is required that each train will need some kind of individual control as well as gravity power.

We all no that the world frist element is not switch back in dark because this happens in a coaster at sea world in japan so that only leves a 5D coster train!

Or maybe they will have on board sound? (read: gimmick) That would add a fair bit of extra weight.

Or something completly different..

For all we know they could brand this

"The Worlds First Physcological Rollercoaster" as in Brenddon Walkers post

Well these days when they build any coaster it has on board sound, it still adds a bit of weight, but not enuogh for diffrent supports.

A world's first that no one can spell... and Samster, these aren't new supports, as posted a while back they have been used in other Intamin coasters like Jet Rescue at Sea World. How ugly... But what was odd is the way they've been used excessively (or what we think is). My explanation, well it's like old coasters with tiny supports.

Not too sure whether it would be on board sound, as WDLR (Walt Disney World Resort America) have the space mountain, but then again I havent been on it so I'm not the best person to ask. However after watching the "Jet Rescue" at sea world just shows what an intamin family coaster can be capable of (that is if it is an intamin FC(guessing due to bi-rail)) :D. In the case of switch-backs installment, that will probably be done in closed season and through the roofing of the "SHOW SCENE" area. Big hopes for Rita being moved, as the crypt / church / castleruins / building seems very hidden from view :D .

The supports will have been chosen to minimise cost while maximising strength. I wouldn't read too much into it... in a time where everyone is trying to save cash, if it is say 20% cheaper to use ugly thin lattice supports, than to use big poles, like on rita, then of course Alton & Intamin will go for the cheap option.

At the end of the day, what do the supports matter, as long as they are sufficient to hold the ride up?
DiogoJ42

Practically they are irrelevant. But they do matter astheticly.

Surely this picture pretty much shows us what will happen in the building..?

Nope? Looks pretty darn ambiguous to me...
For some things there is no rational explanation. There is no way out. There is no happy ending to this story. Welcome to the unknown. Welcome to eternal darkness.

Not really that ambiguous to be honest.. it shows a train falling through a floor into a 'crypt' type room. The train is still attatched to a track and you can see more track going backwards out of the building.. Not really much else it could be other than a 'free-falling' track and backwards section...
Put this together with the plans and the building we've seen and it looks pretty similar..
