Looks a LOT better with it's new colour scheme. Really stands out, I don't think yellow would have done. Looks bloody magnificent, well done Alton!

Bigger picture of one above here.

I like it, looks much better than what I was expecting, the entrance plaza should look fantastic with the Corkscrews there.

Took the words right out of my mouth!

I was convinced that anything other than yellow would be wrong, but I can't deny that it looks pretty snazzy.

Hopefully, with such an iconic structure at the front of the park, it will remind Alton Towers that they need to invest not only in family friendly rides, but also invest in large statement rides such as Th13teen and other thrill rides, just like the Corkscrew was when it first opened.

Wow that looks amazing - certainly better than what I thought it would look like. Bravo Alton! Can't wait till opening day now - Role on March 20th!

Oh, and here is an even bigger sized image of the Corkscrews being put into place.

Looks quite excelent, nice and bold, dramatic and exciting. It is an amazing entrance feature. I can see in a few years this being just as fabled a sight as the sight of the Towers from the other side of the gates. It is a perfect addition and even though they are not even fully there yet, it feels like they have been there forever and belong there. It looks like it will fit in immediately and is a trully briliant thing to do.

I am propperly chuffed to bits.

It's looking great. Only down side is that it reminded me of how out-dated the park entrance is. Could really do with a make-over.

..spot on. Which gave me an amazing idea. Perhaps a 2011 UG Land themed entrance plaza!? Recycling old theme park bits and all that! Or at least theme it on something! :D

It doesn't need a re-theme - just a makeover. Get rid of the terrible pipes between the huts, turn the horrible portacabin into a properly themed building, gut the toilets and close off the 'entrance plaza' side so the Towers street side is a reasonable side and job's a good 'un.

AHH!

Corky's Back! Bless her!

The memories shall serve me well every time I visit in 2010.

Looks fantastic, can't wait to be walking under all that history next time I go.

It's 1 step in the right direction of sprucing up the entrance/towers street.

Indeed it makes the entrance area look great! i wonder if any other corkie track will be in the forest run on 13 coming out of the ground? that would be a nice effect too.

You realise that most of us will never have been this close to the 'screws before? I can't wait to be able to touch them!

People dont hate me for this but many first timers visit alton towers everyday, many people wont know what it was and what its doing there.

Does anyone think that there might be a plaque or a board explaining what it is and why it is there :?
