And if we are being REALLY pedantic, it is "they're" not "their". :)

Anyway, I would love to see the original train bolted on to the track to recreate that image. Just a shame it will never happen. :(

EDIT: It has just reminded me seeing that old picture, that the Corkscrews have much more sentiment to me than just the ride. Anyone remember The Chart Show and the cover for the Prodigy single, Everybody in the Place?

Does anyone think that we might get some sort of small-scale refurb of the entrance plaza alongside the Corkscrews?

I'd like everything to be a bit more modern, and especially some attention payed towards the Monorail station(s).

I just put this together, these are the ACTUAL colours being used, I took them from the codes of the paint in the planning application.

So when it said purple it was in fact... blue...

Regular computer screens don't view those kind of colours the same as they will look in real-life.

Pantone 274 is the Alton Towers purple.

Exactly.

I still think they should stick to the colours that made the ride famous.

I think it's a fabulous idea.

There was another strong smell of paint coming from the monorail park entrance station today!

Originally I thought they stood out a bit too much until I read about the repaint. I think a pale track would look better as it sticks more with the rides actual colours. However it is obvious the gold supports represent the pipes and the buildings could be blended with the purple. Make the purple glow in the sun and the old magic has returned.

My idea:
I would love to see gold pipes crossing all over the tower street entrance like on the park map. They could come from the corkscrews supports and enter the ticket office roofs. Make them hollow and the staff could use them to communicate to each other. :)
I know, that’s an extreme make over.

I think this is a wonderful idea, and will look spectacular in the entrance.

A bold structure that harks back to AT's history.

I do, however, think the track should be a shade of yellow or gold, though...

I would rather see the track gold an the supports purple than having having the track purple and supports gold.

If the top of the screws are 11 meters above the ground, how low will the bottom of them be?
Hopefully they will be high enough to prevent being 'tagged' or swung on. Or any other chavy vandalism...

The area is pretty well-staffed throughout the day, who can be vigilant with regards vandalism I expect.

Also the plans say there'll be a fence around the middle part, I think, for H&S reasons - probably to prevent people climbing on it.

I really really really hope they wack a sign up telling customers about the old ride and maybe even a few pictures.

Would be great until they update the current marketing.

I really like this idea. I think Alton are trying to do a Thorpe Park entrance like what they did with the Intamin track. This looks very dramatic and effective so I hope they give permission for Alton Towers to install the Corkscrews once more. The legend of Corky will live on!

I absolutely hate the idea of Corkscrew being purple. What the hell were they thinking? A iconic coaster that made the park what it is today and they are going to make a mockery of it by making it purple? What a load of bull turd!

Anyways Id better add something constructive. Looking back at those pictures posted before. Wouldnt it be sooo cool if they could add a train to the track as if it was stuck in time. Like a photo of the actual ride moving.

I think the idea of having the corkscrews as artwork is brilliant and although the location is a good place to put them I do feel that it would be better to have them at the park entrance.

Personally I think it would look pretty awesome as you pulled in to the park of the main road and drove straight between the corkscrews. Not only would it look awesome but it would be a pretty amazing start to the theme park experience for new guests particularly.

Obviously its just my thoughts. :D

I think this is an amazing idea, but the 2 metre high fence concerns me

The Corkscrews are positioned so that the low point allows the tower of the entrance building visable, it will be quite a centrepiece...but 2m is a very high fence, it could ruin it!
