My bro has confirmed it will be 1.2
Here's an anagram of his name -

"Oh no, Paddy Won!"

Any Alton staff who know him, message me.

I completely agree with you STC that Arrow have done the most for rollercoasters but i have to pull you up -

First steel rollercoaster - First steel coasters existed 15 years before Arrows first.
First modern inverting coaster - According to RCDB Arrow never made inverts
First suspended coaster - THe first suspended coaster opened in 1902, 79 years before Arrows
First coaster over 200ft - Moonsault Scramble opened in 1983 at 246ft, 6 years before Magnum XL

sorry btw

I think STC was thinking of Matahorn Bobsled, this was build by Arrow and was the first tubular steel coaster ever built. Also I maybe assuming but STC may have been thinking of complete circuit coasters.

I do think Arrow had the most influence in coaster innovation, they created bigger and more complex rides than anyone else of there time. Vekoma used similar track sections (hence why both manufacturers had reputations of being rough) and carried on creating new coaster types quicker than Arrow. Arrow spent a lot of time developing the 4th Dimensional coaster which in the end spelt the end of them. If it wasn't for Arrow going bust, they would have been up there with Vekoma creating just as inovative rides as each other.

Exactly, Arrow made fantastic advances in technology and Roller Coasters wouldn't be what they are today if it weren't for Arrow.

But you can just say Vekoma are crap, because they clearly aren't. Their Boomerang, SLC's and Corkscrew coasters have been one of the most popular designs of all time. They gave parks which couldn't of afforded large coasters, just that.

None are that rough, just enthusiasts moan too much.

With SW6 I dont mind who builds it. All the manufactures out there have there merits, thats why they are still in buisniness and have orders for new rides in the future.

People saying they dont want it to be Vekoma! Why not? Just because you may not like there previous coasters, they do have a good track record. This could be a new concept from them. They do seem to use varied track styles and this could become there best ride yet! Who knows?

All im hoping for is that the ride will be imersive and fun, Im quite up for it not having any inversions, as IMO they dont make or break a ride.

Vekoma really aren't as bad these days as their reputation holds them to. Sure, Corkscrew was rought but the manufacturing process has somewhat changed since then (more smoothing I would expect), and lets not forget Corky was almost 30 years old and had trains which didn't really match the ride.

Once again, following what others have said, I wouldn't care who manufactured it as i'm sure Merlin would choose them for expertise over budget. I'm saying that i'm not denying secretly hoping for the likes of Intamin or B&M, but i'm sure AT will have chosen the best people for the job!

I don't get why some people are desperate for thrill rides. For me a Theme Park is all about the theming, clue lies in the name? If you need a massive thrill, go jump out of a plane, rock climb or go to Magic Mountain.

The reason I thought that most of us love Alton Towers is the atmosphere behind it, and I thought that that atmosphere was dependant on the people in the park, the theming and the experiences.

I was watching Abenteuer Atlantis on youtube and I desperately wanted to go on the ride, theming equals thrills for me, that's why I hear that Silver Star in Europa Park is an average ride compared to the others in the park.

So when I heard about the first plans of Lost Woods, I was so happy, 'another massive themed area and a roller-coaster to go with it!', Nemesis only works for me because of the epic design and the theming. If it was a car park coaster it would be nowhere near the top.

Im with you on what you said. The key to this projects is the theme and location of the coaster. As long as this ride has a convincing back story which flows from the moment you walk into the queue line, we are onto a winner.
Most of the theming is already in place and has been for many years, i.e the trees.

Rides at Alton are about experience and in the past they have pushed boundaries with coaster technology to create a unique ride experience which creates a unique atmosphere for the park and rides.

I do notice a pattern now that you say so... and I have had enough!

I notice the same thing again and I will always notice until someone bans Leroy. That he comes up with the same crap again and again and pratically everyone dislikes him apart from Trix and one or two people, who like cheap laughs.

I am not being mean...why don't people like Leroy? Because he says this and the other without a shread of evidence and I wouldn't be suprised if he was Shawn Sanbrooke's brother. He comes across completely arrogant and still won't admit he's wrong.

There must be reason why you have so many boos.

We STILL don't have any evidence Mr Leroy, so if you want to be taken seriously, give us some evidence.

Ok you got me,
I have no proof whatsoever that this is going to be manufactured by B&M, I've been posting absolute rubbish this whole time pretending I know something when I don't.

NOT!
The reason I have so many boo's is because you decided to trawl though all my old posts and boo them all.
You know where the foe button is.
I only comment on SW6 because it is of great interest to me, why have you yet again come back to moan about me? Just leave me to my posts and get on with it. Do I keep having a go at you about your posts? no because quite frankly I don't care.
Do I have to substantiate the claims I've made? No, so just ignore me and the world will be a better place.
Your post had no relevance to SW6 Ride Discussion, it was a blatant attack on me.
Anyhoos, for those of you that are excited about this being a B&M you shall not be let down :)
I can confirm they HAVE been working on a new track type and this will NOT be a collaboration with another manufacturer, they are branching out in the market to design new exciting products.
If you want to find some information out about something all you have to do is persevere, anything is possible!
With a height limit of 1.2 doesn't mean that we are in for a tame ride. The limit is determined by the train design.
This is an important point.

Megafobia - 1.2M limit
Balder - 1.3M limit
Infusion - 1.3M limit
Speed/Rage - 1.25M limit

Just a bit of a mix there to show the kinds of thrills that can be accomplished with a "family thrill" coaster :)
If you\'ve got a problem, stuff a worm in it!

In other news, I was thinking. Perhaps this is going to be Vekoma ride, however, someone who has seen the CGI/artwork for the ride noticed the 4 seater trains leading them to think B&M. Where as a matter of fact Vekoma have now moved to new 4 seater trains as can be seen below.

http://viewer.zmags.co.uk/showmag.php?m ... f#/page22/

The do look very B&M'ish.... so perhaps a misunderstanding by the source?

Whacha think?

Think about it. If the ride has the same capacity as corkscrew, how can it have 4 abreast seating?

I don't post on this forum very regularly, but I do read it, and this topic has been very very interesting. However, I fail to understand why some poeple are adament it won't be a thrill ride if it is not a B&M.

Personally, looking at the plans with the theme they plan to implement, I don't feel a B&M would fit the bill at all. It would be too chunky, too loud and too dominant in the theme to fit in. To create the tension the ride seems to want to create, it needs a track that isnt going to hanginging over your head, directing you where to go next; but needs a track that is essentially invisible while your travelling through the woods. That to me would create the greatest thrill - Suspense of the unknown!
