well since the ug land area is the oldes area in the park, I am not that surprised that it is the most changed in all the park.
No, after Mutiny Bay and Cloud Cuckoo Land; Ug Land is actually the newest area on park.
:)
I think he means the area of the park has been there from the very start, ie Corkscrew was first added to the area in 1980, whereas areas such as Forbidden Valley and Katanga Canyon did not exist back then. So in that way, Ug Land / Festival Park as it used to be, is one of the oldest areas in the park. :)

I think Ug Land has always been the most theme restrained area in the park behind Mutiny Bay so of course something had to give and it turns out that we'll probably see the end of the prehistoric theme this year... *sad face*.

I've never liked this area of the park.

However to me it makes perfect sense to theme it around Hex and the towers, since its right next door. Its a very fitting theme for the area (if its that dark forest concept).

Hopefully they will totally revamp the entire area and make the theming truly immersive. I just cant imagine them putting up a building for SW6 that basically replicates the towers, and have it standing in the middle of Flint Stones Land with Rita's Dragster Theme also mingled in. I mean can you imagine the sheer mess of it?

It'll only make sense to retheme.

I think its been mentioned in the past but....

Could we be seeing theming for SW6-land extending out towards Hex?
I'm thinking out into Fountain Square utlising the land where the old Lazer-engraving building was.
If the ride is Hex related it would make sense to combine the areas.

The only problem I can see is Rita's Chicken and Ribs, which would be difficult to theme.

Rita's would actually be insanely easy to theme! Plain wooden pannels, it's already like a rustic blank canvas. Imagine putting fake ivy around some of the beams, replacing the sign and you're half way there.

Personally, I'm not sure whether the area will be properly amalgamated. I think Hex and the Towers in general will just add to the effect of SW6 through general closeness.

Maybe it will be "classed" as being part of the area despite it being kinda detached. Like how Katanga technically begins on the edge of Mutiny Bay but you go down a long winding path before you reach the main hub, or how you are technically still in Mutiny Bay at the edge of Battle Galleons, but that is again detached from the general courtyyard, Marauder's area. Maybe odd bits of themeing around Fountains Square to tie it in, but not the full whack you'll getin the main Ugland area.

Rita better be re-themed or else I'm going to sue the towers. I think Kooppa-Troopa actutually summed it up quite well!

I can not agree with the points made in this thread more..
why is "RITA" (the worst name for a ride ever.. not called .. RAPTOR RACE.. or whatever?

Maybe Ugland will be dropped next year as a theme? I hope not, Dinos and kids are a big sell.

I see nothing wrong with the name RITA; it's short and easy to remember. I honestly hope the ride keeps the name and just loses the QOS tag.

UgLand will almost certainly be dropped as a theme. Before Rita it was a pretty good theme, although it wasn't as detailed as Katanga. Then she came along and clashed enormously. Now she's the only ride in the area there's no point in keeping the UgLand theme when Rita doesn't even fit with it.
Don't tie Rita together with SW6 whatsoever. Just haul out all traces of Ug Land, make Rita look a little roughed up (like Nemesis, but obviously not so much). SW6, as it is most likely going to be themed around something found at Alton Towers, make the area themed as 'Alton Towers' if that makes sense. Rita is just part of Alton Towers, which SW6 has been unearthed behind. It's very hard to say this clearly.

Basically, it's not an abandoned race track. It's an abandoned Rita Queen of Speed.
Nemesis is roughed up? I always thought that it was just really dirty.....

It's meant to look rough, it's themed around a monster that's been pinned down by tonnes of metal, I highly doubt a monster takes a bath.

I have an unconfirmed report of information discovered by Dave Whitehurst that Rita's name next year will be "Rita: Spirit of the Forest". The source is less than completely reliable with emphasis on the "less", but not exactly a "my dad's uncle's best mate works for...". I'm afraid the source will have to remain anonymous.

Take with a serious pinch of salt.

Does anyone even use Rita's full name at the moment anyway?

The Queen of Speed is thrown away by everyone so Spirit of the Forest, or whatever, will be still be thrown away by everyone.

Its realistic that it could be something that, after all it will still be Rita to everyone but shifts the theme a little bit.

I honestly think a re-name like that could work...

Paint the track a different colour, add some new station and entrance theming as well as a few bits around the queue. Change the buildings around the area.

There you go... Bob's your uncle, perfect theme collaboration for the dark forest area!

I'm really not sure it would be that easy. The GP know the ride as a "racing" themed ride. You can't just change the theme and expect everyone to think its a new ride.

They don't have to think it is a new ride, beacuse it clearly isn't a new ride. It is just an old ride that has been refurbished to fit in with a new ride/area.

So just advertise it in that way...

Something like,

"SW6 (insert ride name) has arrived and the spirit of the forest has taken over Rita, in the dark forest at the Alton Towers Resort!"

"Spirit of the Forest"? That's gotta be some weird-as-hell spirit that accelerates from 0-62mph in 2.2 seconds...

...still, I suppose as a name it's on a par with "Stealth", the least stealthy ride in existence... :P

erm yeah i never said the Rita prefix was staying. this however is not the first time the name has cropped up around staff
AstroDan

Shortened to "spirit" - I rather like it. But scrap the "Rita" as that would just seem forced.
