I do think using the term "chav" against everyone who misbehaves is a bit much, considering most times i have been, it has been foreigners or groups of rowdy men who have wicked me of! If there was a no under 18's unacompanied was put into place, i'd have something to say about it. I've been since i was 13 on my own, and never caused a fuss there. However, some of these stories i've read are horrific, alton has a very laid back attitude to things like this. "Theres no charge without proof" people like that should be ejected from park pronto, and the rules need to be much more enforced.

I am actually under 18, and while I don't think I'm old enough to visit the park without an adult. Me andmy sister, who is 17 always go together.

It was all a bit random to be fair. This guy walks up to a member of staff at Burger King Mutiny Bay and demands a free drink! Because they refused he leaned over and punched them.
Security etc then turned up and did there stuff!

Thats way too extreme and they would never pass a rule like that as it would lose them a large amount of profit. The fact is the majority of trouble makers will be over 18. And even so this wouldn't stop anything or are they going to insist we all have to go around with mummy and daddy while they're there as well - and what about school groups? As soon as they're in the park those that are going to be making trouble and going to be off doing it

I can't seem them enforcing an over 18 rule in a million years. Just sounds like security team need to be better prepared.
THORPE deal with these issues everyday and its something that comes part and parcel with the minority of todays youths and culture. Admittedly though thorpes security team see these issues on a more regular basis and are therefore better prepared. What is commonplace at thorpe may not be so common at alton towers, and lets hope it stays that way. Whilst i think thorpe handle these situations well its not something I'd like to see on the increase at a family resort.

Or possibly, they could just ban people from bringing in any drinks and limit the alcohol they do sell to one per person?

When I visited there was a huge group of them, being all rowdy and drinking, but when they knocked my brother over and I had a mouthful at them they were nice enough and apologised.

This is what the UK is like now though. I went to Orlando and I have realised that they are so much nicer in America (I might have just been lucky with who I met), even at parks. In the UK we are not curtious or respectful. It is such a shame that we have lost these things.
Aswell as Koopa-Troopa, I am under 18, but it's unfair on us because me and my friends are not rude, so why should we be punished. Chavs just make everyones day unpleasent!

I think they should have a more than considerable amount of security in each area to cut down on the incidents and to control those who become rowdy and disruptive.
Oh, and step up in queuelines because of queue jumpers and vandals.

Few points to add, The park is HUGE and you cannot expect security to cover every square inch of the place but their response time is quite good from what I've seen. Also you can't slate Altons image for letting "scum" into the park. CAn you imagine the uproar and backlash the park would get for introducing a chav screening process at the gates?
This isolated incident on the Skyride bridge seemed to have been dealt with correctly and upon seeing Security physically removing a group of lads at Corkies leaving do and escorting them out the park I don't worry about the security at the park at all.

There seems to be a few people who want a lot of rules so we can be told how to have fun!
Please don't let us get so bogged down by rules that we don't have freedom of choice. Having too many rules takes the responsibility away from the individual which can't be heathy.
You are going to get idiots whatever you do (lets not just class them as chavs as idiots can be from a wide range of backgrounds and age groups) and while I agree you should minimise opportunities for these people it shouldn't be at the expense of right minded individuals.
Alton Towers certainly appeals to families but a lot of its custom will be from other groups too. I have a daughter but I enjoy an occasional pint when I am having a day out - families enjoy resposnsible drinking too!
If you stop serving alcohol in the theme park do you then look at taking it away from the water park and the hotels - both of which will have families there!
Whilst we are at it, please ban swearing, talking about anything that may be deemed as an adult theme, smoking, chewing gum (as some people spit it out on the floor and in the urinals), those over-sized prizes that get stuffed in my face whilst in a ride queue, any form of garlic as it makes people's breath smelly, and the wearing of crocs (they just look wrong!).
For me, alcohol should be only consumed at designated bars and eating places and not taken around the park. If alcohol is to be allowed to be taken around then it should be supplied in plastic bottles - not just because idiots may use them as weapons but because it is easy to drop them in a busy area and cause a problem with smashed glass.
Towers staff should have the authority to deal with unruly people (whether influenced by alcohol or otherwise) and be backed up by management. If the restaurants didn't serve alcohol to those they considered be be already drunk and security threw out people who acted inappropriately it would send out the right message and sensible people (the majority) could continue to enjoy their day in whatever way they choose.

When I had my problems with chavs at the park I just done what I do in the real world, ignore them and carry on with life. There's no point in letting pathetic people ruin your day and satisfying them with attention that they want. Yes, complain to staff if needed but don't go home feeling your trip has been ruined because of them.
There's not much Alton can do really, the only thing they can do is just tell their staff to keep an eye out for this kind of behavior and report it to higher staff.

I have a T shirt with the quote "AK47 - when you absolutely, positivly have to kill every mother****** in the room". And I often forget I'm waring it. You should see the looks I get from old ladies! Infact, I very nearly wore it to Heathrow airport the other day. Thankfully I noticed before I left and changed.
But I would never ware it to work, or somewhere there are likely to be kids.

Sadly though this problem seems to be happening everywhere now. I was at Twickenham today for the EDF Cup Final and sat behind me were four young lads, at first they seemed ok, but as the game went on they started to get really loud and started to kick my chair. I didn't want to say anything though because I was a bit scared 
.
They started swearing and shouting (reminding everyone that a lot of young families go to rugby matches). I am really angry that this is happening everywhere I go now. I would have expected it at a football match, but not a rugby match!

Loud people are everywhere and, being a theme park, Alton Towers attracts them. They are no problem unless they start being anti-social. In Rome, there was a restaurant with a bunch of drunk men singing 'American Pie' and in another a gang of yobs swearing their heads off. Ignoring them is the way, but sometimes you can't keep it in. I'm glad Alton Towers have recognised this and tried to stop it.

I admit i do like a good drink of alcohol, however i do not drink alcohol while on park at all...
1) its a health hazard (not only the drink itself but then riding on lets say...Nemesis).
2) If you look at someone on a themepark drinking alcohol.....it just sends the word - 'Alcoholic' through your head.
3) The prices for alcohol are so expensive there.....if i want a good drink ill go to the pub or bar later on in the day.
Ill only ever drink on the site at all whilst at the hotels, where i can relax and enjoy the evening entertainment with a nice pint.
