Personally, whether it's a B&M, Vekoma, Premier or whatever - I don't care who the manufacturer of the ride is. Simple fact being, I'm pretty confident we'll have a great ride experience with this new ride.
That's what matters at the end of the day.
People don't go on Oblivion because it's a B&M. They go for the experience of that ride. The same will be true of this ride, regardless of who has built it.
No one's saying its going to be a crap ride unless B&M build it, people are just discussing who the ride manufacturer might be. Are we not allowed to do that?
Oh give it a flaming rest will you. I wasn't nitpicking at anybody. I was simply stating my opinion.
Am I not allowed to do that? #-o

Now I'm pretty sure that I can read and from what I can see And. was also just discussing who the ride manufacturer might be, saying that it doesn't really matter that much which I completely agree with. Every time someone mentions something about this ride probably not being a B&M or even just mentioning B&M you seem to feel the need to reply, and sometimes with something stupid.
Back on topic, as I briefly said above, I don't think that the ride manufacturer will make that much of a difference to how good the ride is. The main element to the ride will most likely what happens inside the station building at the end, it will be about the experience and all being well theming which will hopefully be achieved with any manufacturer.

I think from looking at the plans submitted, the ride wont be a B&M. They wouldnt spend all that money on such detailed drawings if they were just representational. The track shown will be what the track will look like.
The fact that they didnt use a newer B&M coaster for the sound test also to me points away from B&M.
I can see the ride being a Premire or Gurstler. Even tho i mentioned Mack in the last topic. Ive moved away from that in a way.
Great news about the approval

When I'm less knackered, I'll rewatch and copy a direct quote, but the head of development, or whatever he is, said something along the lines of "this will be a worlds first of its kind rollercoaster and the wooded part of the ride is integral to this." This might just mean that he means that its all part of the ride, but he could also be suggesting that that is where the worlds first element is, or that its highly significant as part of the world's first element.

I've just finished watching that video. A bit of an anti-climax when they announced the results.
All the Cllr's made some very good points, both for and against. Particularly the guy who said bring the fireworks back!
The planning people seemed impressed by the documentation of the application and I think part of the reason for it being passed was such strong documents. Very professional case put forward by Alton Towers.
Realistically it was never going to be turned down. Would you stop millions of pounds being invested into your local area during the tough financial climate? Of course they wouldn't.
I am looking forward to hearing more news about the 10 year plan come May.

I love the guy with the moustache!
Very True.
As far as I'm concerned, screams and excitement come from young people enjoying themselves. I think it's a very sad reflection on our society that we do not want to hear young people enjoying themselves anymore.

Made a few notes for Uni about the PAC meeting ->
-Louder operations inside?
Does this point towards mechanical operation or sound effects?
-Key to worlds first element is the "dark woodland" (Dark Forest?) setting.
The words dark woodland pricked up my ears, and the idea of the woodland being integral to a) the ride and b) the worlds first element
-Could supports be an issue due to root protection, perhaps Great Bear style supports?
-Station themed in style of Towers, where most noise is, including braking
With the obvious final brake run before offload this makes sense, but does it point to the pre-switchback brakes being indoors?
-Cllr Richardson made a good point about how Alton Towers have spent 40 years protecting and caring for these woodlands
-Positive that the £50,000 for traffic surveys could be re-routed towards the buildings and gardens
-10 Year Plan
Alton Towers have said this will be revealed to the PAC in May
-Opening times to be discussed in 10 Year Plan in May : even spread of busy days?
The comments about opening times within the 10 years plan was interesting, but still quite cryptic

I just watched the meeting Video, I have to say I am surprised by their views, all very open minded about it all, and given valid points which I can understand. Its nice to see that they are not all devil people against the towers.
I especially loved those golden words 'you have your planning permission'
woooooooo my heart was racing when she said that, even though I knew the end result.
Thank you for posting the link!

I have also just watched the video and I must say I was so pleased when I saw everyone in favour of the application.
I was thinking to myself though, when did I become this obsessed with SW6/Alton Towers that I started to watch a planning meeting! I have lost respect fo myself!
The plan will have to be adhered to. If they dump in B&M track now, they will have to cut down more trees (B&M track and trains being wider). Also, the supports for B&M will be massively different, so again, more trees affected, and different holes dug into the ground.
The station would also have to be redesigned to accommodate the wider track and trains.
So, for it to be B&M, the entire submitted plans would have to be changed almost completely, and then resubmitted for approval.
So no, sorry, not B&M...
Here's a thought. Have you actually measured the track width from the plans and compared them against B&M?
Everyone with a brain knows ride manufacturers are identified by their track design, so why is the design of this track quite different from anything else out there at the moment? No one can say for sure what kind of track/manufacturer it is which is why I think those plans have been deliberately made to throw us off!

I really don't think that the plans have been made to throw us off, if you think that then your getting your hopes up a little bit in my opinion. The track design may not be completely accurate on the plans but I think it's safe to say that it will be the same style of track that Intamin and Gerstlauer use and not B&M track. And even if the track does turn out to be completely different to what it's like on the plans it most likely won't be because Alton wanted to throw us off.

Why would Alton want to throw anyone who care's of. Personally, I'm quite sure it will be an Intamin coaster, not to disiumular to a hyper coaster just with more track elements & maybe an inversion in the building.
There are other manufacturers than B&M, a lot of the world's best rides aren't B&M.
The whole project being a success or not doesn't depend on the ride being B&M.
B&M only make the skeleton, its people like John Wardly who make the ride what it is.
I totally agree. I used to think B&M, to put it bluntly was the best! But having been lucky enough to take a trip to see our children and their collection of rides over in America changed my mind without question or doubt! From what I experienced, Intamin seemed to be the ones wearing the golden crown and sitting on the throne. Which is odd, because from my experience their train and track designs, element exchanges etc tend to be somewhat more jerky than ultra smooth B&M's!
But I think that's just it, because personally I think modern B&M's are a bit too smooth and sometimes just aren't 'edgy' enough to compete with Intamins. Not only that, your average run of the mill Intamin 2 seater wide trains resemble the classic coaster - which is mainly what I like.
It's highly, highly unlikely judging by what those people in the so called know are saying from what they themselves have heard and the little information that's floating about. But I've got my fingers crossed on Tower's getting their first GCI or Intamin woody! =P~

But I want to say thanks for posting it, it makes interesting viewing and I can't wait to see what the future will bring!
