First of all a big well done! This has been really good fun and created some good discussion at times.

Secondly, this has been so much fun for me! As has been said I was in on it from nearly the very beginning, I didn't belive it at first anyway, and managed to guess that it was Sam on Saturday evening (I was getting hints but was still good of me to work it out!) It really is funny when you know that it's not genuine and others are posting believing it all! I can see why people did though, it was pretty convincing at first. So obviously my last couple of posts in this topic were there try and keep people believing it. It did work well go, and I think if it had actually all gone plan, Sam really would have fooled some of you, when he was telling me about what he wanted to do it sounded good.

But yeah I think this has been great, really brought the forum alive. Also I've never seen such a fast moving topic in my life.

Now we can all look forward to some actual construction as it sounds like work has started on site. The later in the we'll probably get an actual marketing campaign, I think it's very fair to say that none of the other "viral marketing campaigns" are real.

:D

I think the only useful or mildly interesting thing to come out of tonight (or maybe before - not entirely sure) was this article...

http://www.guardian.co.uk/travel/2009/m ... lercoaster

So thanks to whoever posted that! Farily big hint at what might happen inside the building i think...

I agree that this is a big hint.

Brendan Walker (from that article) runs Aerial http://www.aerial.fm/docs/update.php who produced '10 big ideas': concepts for each Merlin park in 2008. It's strongly believed they produced the concepts for AT's new attraction we saw last year, including Dark Forest, etc.

He also runs Thrill Laboratory http://www.thrilllaboratory.com/#, which has been very involved with AT in the past.

As the article suggests, he was also very involved in Saw.

I think it's very safe to say that he's working on a drop feature for SW6.

Yes, we haven't quite cracked the MakeBritianHappy mystery yet.

It's very likely this guy works at AT, or is involved with AT, as he has bought us several bits of news about developments at the park, all of which have required inside knowledge, and have all been accurate.

However, he could just be a park worker who is hoaxing us with the SW6 stuff.

On one level, he can't spell 'Britain', on another level, he has bothered to set up the www.watchtheground.com URL.

So, I'm saying: park insider doing his own, unofficial campaign. Could have real inside information about SW6.

Thank god I didn't bother looking all over the website :P . Well done though ShootTheCore, a good laugh and I'm so happy I didn't fall for all of it. Hopefully Alton will realise the potential of a viral marketing campaign...
Now in seriousness, what about this?

http://www.altontowersheritage.com/arti ... icleid=101
I posted that a while back and I believe that this could be used for the new coaster. I'll look more into it later, seems like it could go well with the storyline but then the story could be anything at the moment as we know nothing except it's going to be a dark theme.

At least we got two things that are real out of yesterday:
1) The project is called Secret Weapon 6.
2) There will be a press release later on in the year.

I'm sure that the picture in MBH video is from one of the statue's the Towers itself.

Oh would you believe it,,,that was me :D

There's a bird who works with Brendan anyone know her name ?
AstroDan

Thanks for the admission, STC - there was only so long I would have happilly continued moderating the thread as it was becoming so, so tedious - especially so as I knew it was complete fantasy from the moment you said you'd answer questions.

Still, fun and games and all that.

Can I just ask the question.. Is MakeBritianHappy still real or was it another joke?

I do belive it is real because he signed up to the forum earlier in the year with the new park map for 2009 as his avatar and sig.

Anyway well played. With the fans we have here Towers don't need to hire a viral team.

Well done Shootthecore, that was a good one! Even better though, thanks for bringing it to an end last night and not letting it drag on for another 10 - 20 pages.

Nobody really knows but I don't think so, he might just have some sort of small connection with the park.
And if anyone says I'm shooting down a potential Viral campaign after last night I'm allowed to say its false.

I so hope construction begins soon so all this rubbish can end.

There are two factors that just make me feel a little uneasy about writing off MBH totally at this point.

Firstly, he obviously has SOME sort of connection with AT, as he had the new map as his avatar and signature before it was released (though it's just as plausible he has a friend or relative working there rather than he does himself)

Secondly, the setting up of a URL does take a little bit of effort and money! I considered doing it, but I just couldn't be bothered to reach into my wallet simply for a wind-up :P. However, it seems highly unlikely that if it was real it would just link straight back to YouTube, you would have though at the least it would have a simple "WATCH THE GROUND" white text on black that linked to the YouTube video.

Saying that, I still find it hard to get over the fact his name is spelled wrong - if this was a real viral campaign, they would have just realized there mistake and registered a new account. He also really can't fail with a mantra as generic as "WATCH THE GROUND". Almost certainly the first thing we will see happening on the site is some sort of groundwork, at which point everyone will proclaim MBH had some sort of incredible foresight. Fortune tellers use that strategy all the time. I can tell you all now that if you want to see some construction you should be watching the ground ;)

Well done STC. Although this clearly proves that you have far too much time on your hands. The topic was getting a little stale...

Also, that was a very well written poem.

After last night, doubt has been put into my mind over all of these "viral campaigns". MBH did post images associated with alton towers that had not yet been released, so I think that the link with Alton Towers could be there.

However, whether this is an "authentic" campaign on behalf of Alton Towers, or just a staff member wanting to share insider information.... who knows?

I love the fact noone actually read my last post!

MakeBritianHappy lives in Liverpool. The site www.watchtheground.com is owned by him and registered to his home address, hosted by his ISP.

He is certainly not working for any kind of marketing agency for SW6. He may have links to AT which is where he's got some of his info from, but his efforts are definitely not any kind of official marketing campaign.

Jesus H Christ!

12 hours after the whole crap, and people are still talking about it, and about MBH. Leave it alone!

IF Towers are going to give us any teaser and/or information about SW6 then we shall find out in due time. For now, they are not, because it is far too early, and they dont want to reveal anything either.

MBH obviously has connections, and he/she is exploiting this. And every single one of you gullible fools in here are egging him on to wind you up. What he/she has done has not moved the discussion on any closer than what we already knew, and yet over 80 pages of utter crap have been written about B+M, statues, and how people cannot wait. There was one good thing that came from STC's prank... it highlighted how gullible you all are.

When I read this topic, I dont want to read hundreds of posts of people discussing the legibility of people posting, when they havnt contributed to any of our knowledge of SW6.

When I read this topic, what I do want to read is people discussing what we already know, although perhaps not rehashing every thing 50 times over.

Have patience, all of you.

I wish I could rewind back to the beginning of the weekend, then I wouldn't have wasted my life and time reading through a barrage of crap.

I am just glad I opted for the BS option at the beginning, then I wouldn't be on the long list of gullible people hanging their heads in shame today after being "had"

Why cant people just wait and see what it is on opening day? The internet has ruined such surprises, so stop the speculation.

Yea this topic should really only be used for any new information only. I don't want to read 20+ pages of people speculating if a user is legitimate or now! Its very frustrating!
