This is all so confusing :?
Nah, doesn't add up to me. Why would they ask for that particular video to be taken down, given it didn't mention anything to do with Alton Towers whatsoever.

There's a thousand reasons why that could have been taken down - but I don't think Alton Towers requesting its removal is one of them.

---- Post Info Added ----

MakeBritainHappy's video has been reuploaded with some changes to it.

The flashes of the statues appear for longer, and the bouncy text is now zoomy text.

The changes make me doubt it's authenticity now - given how late in the day it is (it was uploaded at around 8pm), and it seems to be responding to the comments in this thread.

So let me get this straight..
This new ride for the 2010 season is going to be themed around a Dark hooded nightwatchman earl, who killed a hound thinking it had killed his son frank butler?.. Dare I say this is confusing for park guests?
I'd prefer a ride that plunges into a hole or makes you feel like flying over that tripe.

Only one stirrer here.
Come on MBH even you must admit that clip is totally amateurish.

As to construction work at the Towers was it not stated that work would start at the beginning of May

MakeBritainHappy isn't a representive of the park.

This was confimed when they were posting images on TTF previously and AT asked TTF to remove them if I remeber correctly?

However, its obvious that they do have a job at the Towers and have access to information like many other members of staff on Resort. There is every chance that this information and 'Watch the ground' stuff is offically linked to SW6 and 'MakeBritainHappy' has meerly seen the marketing ideas for the ride like many other members of staff at Alton Towers at the start of the year.

Construction has started as far as I know, I have been told by someone on park today that they have started to dig holes in the ground. :)

The fact that MakeBritainHappy's video was taken down, edited and then re-uploaded really makes me question its credibility. It is as if the new video is a response to some of the comments that have been made, and if it was genuinely AT they surely would not change the video for this reason. Also this updated video isn't available in HD like the previous one, only high quality, and that seems a bit strange to me.

Could it not be possible that the videos from both MBH and Maude de Neville are official ?
I doubt it MakeBritainHappy told us to-
Watch The Ground. Not Nottingham.

Oh yeah because he seems like a totally reliable source of information...

If Alton Towers were starting a marketing campaign then why would they have this member put it in their signature? The Maude de Neville stuff seems a lot more professional, with the initial post building up hype and the video posted to the forum exactly six hours later. A professional advertising/marketing company would know that is the way to go and it was. Because of that method, the Maude video was generated a lot more hype and discussion than the MBH one.

Also the fact the video was taken down and edited seems suspicious, especially after someone here criticised part of the video for not looking very professional and it was the mysteriously edited.

Maybe all these different clips, poems and posts from random users are all part of the marketing campaign? Get us talking and speculating. Trying to confuse us and not give a lot away? AT creates different users to all give away small parts of the story which will eventually fit together?

As for the hound story, could the hound have been called Rita? Which is a teaser to a re-theme, and actually nothing to do with SW6? Just a thought!

MakingBritainHappy has actually been a highly accurate member. Though some of his posts were criticised by the park for giving away too much, all of it was true. Whether he works there, or knows someone there, I don't know, but he seems a reliable source in any case.

I keep saying it, but why is there need to tear people to shreds? You aren't going to get answers any faster.

Just going to jump in here - I want to say that I'm LOVING all these videos and stories and little clues. I have no idea whether it's Alton Towers or not, but I don't really think it makes a difference! Bravo to whoever is doing them, I think it's exciting! :D

To be fair I don't think anyone is tearing anyone else to shreds. All that's happening is people are questioning the validity on the videos which is fair in my opinion. When you've got 4 potential viral marketing campaigns going on it's understandable that they are going to be questioned, I mean they can't all be genuine. It doesn't really matter how accurate MakeBritainHappy in the past, we can still question whether the video is genuine or not and pick out certain flaws. The one thing I'd say though is that I can't see anyone ripping anyone else to shreds. :)

I've said frequently I think it's good to be skeptical and critical of them, and to add your opinions on what makes a certain video valid or not, that adds to the discussion.

It's when you catch phrases like "They're scamming us", as if by posting them they are doing wrong, even if they aren't "real". That's what I mean.

I've made posts suggesting why certain videos may not be real. I've said that I doubt the majority of them are real, but I've also said there's no need to rip them to shreds.

I'm actually inclined to believe none of them were made by the park. I bet there are many enthusiasts to plant videos thatcould be real for the sake of speculation and excitement, and once the first was posted the others were soon encouraged. Having seen Thorpe's viral vieo for saw, though, I think the room for what could be real is much extended.

Anyone got any pics of the construction?
On the videos im pretty sure that maudes is "false" purely because i don't think it looks that proffesional but saying that viral videos do not have to be but muades video just dosent really have a Alton feeling to it and it didn't really give me the buzz that i got when i saw MHBs video. At first when i saw MHBs video i was sold instantly but when i found out from you guys that it had been taken down and put back up that made me question its legitime instantly but MHB has been more or less right in previous things so i really don't know about this one i think once we see what happens tomorrow with maude we will get a better picture of whats going on

Going to alton on 23rd of may so i will take lots of pictures and upload them on here

A hole has indeed started to appear on site, along with the very small site office.

Hopefully it's just a few weeks or less now until a construction team move in!

According to someone at TowersAlmanac, Maude is buried in a town in Notingham. That would explain the video location.

So there could well be some truth behind that video in Nottingham?

The only thing is, IF the video AND the poem are both true, well how come they kind of clash? I mean, if you watch the video it says that they are 'unleashing' something on us, and the video kindof says that they are doing whatever it is on purpose to save/destroy humanity? BUT the poem says different and that they never meant to disturb the dog but he's back anyway?

Just a thought...

I believe they employed some diversionary tactics with "voyage" at holiday world's construction. They had a few forum members "throw" the topic off every once and again as they wanted it kept secret, at least i'm fairly sure it was the voyage.

Ah well no news yet really apart for perhaps some questionable videos. The videos i'm most interested in are the ones that actually divulge some information about the ride (there aren't any of yet). Just for the record, i wonder who they will be making the theme tune for this family coaster?, i hope to god it's not the "duel" composer anyway.

Also i would say the odds are that the on-ride photo will be in the backwards tilt section to catch guests at their "most shocked" phase.

EDIT. This forum is turning into facebook at the moment, with everyone thanking and booing for no apparent reason. Am i missing something here?

LOL its a new feature and is just a bit of fun. I still think facebook need a dislike button. Technically speaking it makes TTF ahead of the times!

On topic...

Im really not following these videos or any other speculation. Until I see solid evidence, Im not going to believe anything. Thing is, construction will start in a few months and we will see for ourselves what it will be and who made it.

I just want to peek out from under my mostly lurkerish hood to say.... this is so damn exciting. Even if none of this is in the least bit significant, it's still loads of fun.

There's something brilliant about -waiting- for this to all kick off... like being in a queue I suppose.
