Re: How old were you when...

I remember going on Kraken in Sea World, Florida. I wasn't tall enough and rushed past the man measuring people. I got on the ride and the woman asked, "You don't look tall enough for this." But I managed it in the end and it was definitely worth it. Then shortly afterwards I went on Saw t...

Re: SW8

The smiler could have been much better if they spent a lot lot more on themeing, they didnt so the end result imo seems a bit pointless and a waste of money. I thought that the Smiler theming was good for what it is. Being one of the most compact roller coasters in the world doesn't leave a lot of ...

Re: SW8

Where did the suggested "SW7 was a B&M, but was pushed back and now will SW8" thingy originate from anyway? I've heard it be said millions of times...

Re: SW8

I think SW9 will be the dark ride. If it was in/on Duel then surely Duel would be removed at the end of this season. Also, if FV needs a revamp and SW8 is a speculated B and M, I think the ride could go there to boost the amount of people it attracts. I'm sure someone said Nemesis and Air don't get...

Well we know it's a big attraction, but we can't even say it's going to be a roller coaster! It could just be a large water ride, or something completely out of the blue.

Re: SW8

No, I meant the floorless launch for when Rita is still here. If they market it differently, just use the speed as a slogan. An Intamin Rita style launch is different to a more stealth-ish launch on a floorless coaster, right? Stealth and Rita are launched using the exact same methods. Both are mad...

Re: SW8

I suppose. But I hope that SW8 has some kind off LSM/LIM launch because a launch like that isn't seen in Alton Towers. As long as it uses the terrain more or weaves in and out of the tree line, I'm sure it could be considered different to Rita and not overlap target audiences.

Re: SW8

Rita is a good ride, it's different from the others and gives more variety to the park. However it could have been done better, track layout and theming wise. I kind off hope SW8 has a launch, but then that discards the use of B&M as the company. So, I don't really know what I want ha ha

Re: SW8

By the way I think that Oblivion would have enough speed to do a larger circuit. Oblivion is the fastest roller coaster at Alton Towers; at 68mph compared to Rita's 61.1mph. But I suppose due to the Dive Coaster cars, Oblivion is affect by wind resistance a lot more then other rides.

Re: Thorpe Park - Next Coaster 2016?

So does that mean a 2016 coaster for Thorpe Park and a 2017 coaster for Alton Towers, ensuring that they don't compete with each other?

Re: Thorpe Park - Next Coaster 2016?

Surely, sticking to a coaster every 3 years like both parks have done in the recent years, there will be a major coaster at Thorpe Park in 2015, and a major coaster at Alton Towers in 2016.

Re: The Smiler Construction Part 2

Just to clarify, the 1st drop is actually the 'inverted' drop according to the game. I suppose this makes sense due to the fact that the 'roll' does follow the drop down. The 2nd drop goes up, and then down. This makes it the 'twisted' drop. Just thought I would clarify from earlier.

Re: The Smiler - Construction Discussion

You're wrong. :) They're called Inverted Drops on The Smiler game. Arh ok i cant play the game so that's why i didn't know. As for construction was any more of the lift put in today or is it still how it was earlier? [Irrelevant thoughts here] As mentioned above, the game refers to them as inverted...

I don't think there is scratches on it, I just think it is dirt from construction, and from being on the floor for so long.

Re: The Smiler - Construction Discussion

Track layout isn't the most important thing for me. It needs to ride smooth otherwise it could be incredibly uncomfortable with the amount of inverions. I'm sure they'll get it right though. I haven't ridden SAW but I'm led to believe that it can be quite shaky and uncomfortable. Hopefully they wil...

Re: The Smiler - Construction Discussion

Does anyone think alton towers will go into this much detail? [Image here] In my opinion, when they have added the queue fences, it will look like this. Except the Marmaliser looks better in real life than it does here! I just hope the smiler lives up to expectation! Look at the track layout! They ...
