Re: Quick Questions 2012

Help! Going up to the Towers tomorrow and for the first time in ages, need to get a bus. I know the 14 goes past where I live, what are the chances of getting on it at 7.45 tomorrow? I can live with standing up, but I need to be on that bus as I'm meeting mates at the entrance who are getting a diff...

Re: Clothes people wear to walk round Alton Towers all day

Jeans, t-shirt and hoody, and my Converse (my favourite pair that saw me through Sonisphere 2010 and V Festival 2010). Going tomorrow and very tempted to try the combats idea but mine are black and it's going to be quite warm... I did dress as a nun for a friends' birthday - but I was sensible, wore...

Re: Current Offers, Vouchers, Deals ETC...

Yep. There have been 241's in the Sun all week I think. They're deceptive because the advert makes it look like each day's voucher is only valid for one attraction, but if you read the small print, you find they're valid for a big list of attractions :)

Re: Onride USB sticks?

Yeah, it is. Also I found a couple of times the pictures were never actually transferred onto my stick. And because there's no way of checking before you get home I couldn't do anything about it.

My only good Spinball picture never made it home :(

Re: Lift Stop

Not had any this year but have had one on Air for a camera. And about 259,000 on Air waiting for the train before to clear the block in front but that doesn't count. And 256,000,000 on the Skyride. But that doesn't count either. A trip on that when it DOESN'T stop is more of a surprise. *Figures hav...

Re: Harness Popping

I've had restraints pop before, really doesn't bother me when they pop up, but when I get to the end of a ride and find I've inadvertently stapled myself in, that's a tad annoying! A funny story about Oblivion: On about my 3rd ever ride, I'd read on here about taking the belt out on the break run to...

Re: SkyRide Closure

Thanks! We live fairly close so know it's all fine access wise, but because we use the Skyride to cover larger distances didn't know all the routes round :) Even when I go with other mates we use the Skyride! :)

Re: SkyRide Closure

Stupid question here, because me and my mate have never searched for the answer on park:

Are there routes to all areas which are wheelchair accessible while the Skyride is down? We've always just used it so I'm curious as to the answer :)

Re: Ticket prices up again.

Well I for one will be voting with my feet and will be encouraging friends to do the same. I'm guessing the price difference will apply to those buying tickets for a guest with a disability and their carers, and that's "technically" discounted. It would really scrape the bottom of the barr...

Re: E-Lockers

The ice rink at Altrincham has lockers like this. The system is VERY simple, which is great because I don't see how it could break, and also you can easily ask a mate to grab something or share a locker. BUT, I agree about the hour use thing. When I go skating I pay the full day rate (£3), as I'd wo...

Re: How busy will it be? 2011

BOGOF is available til 9th May :) I'm thinking of using it for tomorrow but have some vouchers as well... And it's more expensive than on the gate (£39.60 instead of £38!) Or is this a sign...?

Re: Ride breakdowns

I was evac'd off Hex at Scarefest, 2008 I think. Anyway, the doors to the vault kept opening and closing, and we all thought it was a joke with it being Scarefest, til the asked us to leave. I don't like heights, so evacuating off a coaster would scare me somewhat, especially as I ride minus my glas...

Re: Whats the funniest thing you or someone else has done at AT?

Back in 2009, spending 2 days at the resort for a birthday treat for 2 friends. Seven of us rocked up to ATH in fancy dress and went round the park dressed up. Very fun day, the staff kept having jokes with us, and a random group of people wanted their picture taken with us!

Re: Disabled policy change?

Ah but you see, this is where it becomes interesting. My visual problems stop me driving, but I can get around fine without any assistance. I will admit, I've used the system, only when in a small group (3 max) and it didn't feel right, so I stopped doing it. Plus I got abuse shouted my way from peo...

Re: Disabled policy change?

Dan, a quick question as you seem quite knowledgeable :) As some know, I'm visually impaired, but often visit with a friend with CP, who uses a wheelchair. These new bands for those who are deaf etc, would it, on my next visit, be worth me getting one so that in the event of an evac (where chances a...

But, if it's gravity that takes over after the holding brake, how does it get stuck?

Or is it one of those things I'd probably be better off not knowing?

Re: Ice Skating this Xmas at Alton Towers.

Cheers for that, was thinking of going with my mate who uses a wheelchair. Now, reading it's a fiver for half an hour and isn't even actual ice, I don't think we'll bother.
