Re: What would a *modern* ghost train look like to you?

I supposed the most modern Ghost Train that I've been on is the Derren Brown Ghost Train at Thorpe park. The Haunted House at Alton was brilliant and as modern as they get until they messed around with it and turned it into Duel. I must confess, I do prefer the old traditional type Ghost trains. Oth...

Re: Great Yarmouth & Pleasure Beach

On our last visit to Great Yarmouth (3rd Nov), we saw that the big wheel that was situated next to the Sealife was being dismantled and removed. I can't say if the removal of the wheel was being removed just for the winter or was going for good. Hopefully it will return next season The first photo w...

Re: Great Yarmouth & Pleasure Beach

If you are taking a walk down the Pleasure Beach end and have ventured across the road to see the Banksy artwork or the Britannia Column. If you take a walk down Barkis Road or down Peggoty Road, both different locations, you will come across some Penguin Bollards https://i.imgur.com/T6w5vlL.jpg htt...

Re: Great Yarmouth & Pleasure Beach

At the start of this thread, I reported about the Banksy Street Art in Great Yarmouth. You can also see some street work by the urban artist Emo Raphiel Astoria This one can be seen where Standard Place meets St Peter's Road. You will need to look up on the side of the building to see https://i.imgu...

Re: Great Yarmouth & Pleasure Beach

There are a couple of rock making shops in Great Yarmouth, these can be found along Regent Road. The main one is Docwras Rock Factory. It a large shop containing all sorts of rock and confectionary. https://i.imgur.com/5ZvKcKa.jpg On certain days and times, you may be lucky enough to see the rock be...

Pirate Cove Adventure Golf Course is a pirate themed crazy golf attraction. I notice my photos in the original post have broken links. So I've raided my photo album and reposted some of those photos taken back in 2015 for the 25th anniversary https://i.imgur.com/QZFtSBl.jpg https://i.imgur.com/4G0Ju8E.jpg https://i.imgur.com/rRap0Ja.jpg Michael Fish (on the right) the weath...

Re: Great Yarmouth & Pleasure Beach

One thing that tourist visiting Great Yarmouth may not realise, is that is was surrounded by a town wall It's a medieval wall which is 2200 yards long and 23 feet high. The wall was built from flint and stones taken from the beach. Some of wall still stands there today despite some of it has been de...

Re: Sensations on roller coasters

The most scary thing that I've done is a Skycoaster which can still be found on Blackpool South pier. For me the scary things are those that you have to give yourself a push to do. Vertical slides (Pleasurewood Hills used to have one) Go Ape (Tarzan Rope swing) etc.. I would like to do the velocity ...

Thank you Chris. Yarmouth as more to offer. I will need to raid my old photos to post as well as attractions that I've never visited, so I'm hoping to post more in due course. Re: Sensations on roller casters

That is the problem with riding rides over time, you do build up immunity with the rides. You get used to them that you no longer get that adrenaline/rush feeling. On the plus side, your body get used to the rides and you no longer feel motion sickness as well as your muscles build up to take the mo...

Re: Great Yarmouth

One of the biggest attractions at Great Yarmouth is the Pleasure Beach. I've not reported on this sooner as I've not had any photos to post. The Pleasure Beach as been around for many years. I remember visiting it around 50 years ago when I was very young. Some of the old rides have long gone, but a...

Re: Sensations on roller casters

That is a good question. For me, it has always been about the drop, the speed, the wind blowing into your face. I like the negative G's of the drops. Back in the 80's/90's, it was always about riding the coaster with the biggest and steepest first drop. Sitting at the rear of a coaster is best to ma...
