Re: What's The Smiler like?

I must say Saw put me off vertical lifts too. Having not experienced them previously to The Smiler they did not look comfortable at all. But The Smiler's vertical lift didn't bother me at all. Far comfier than I thought!

Re: TowersTimes V3

Calling it a 'mess', a site that a 'thirteen year old would create' and 'dire' is offensive and unnecessary. We are very much open to feedback, appreciate you taking the time to give your input, but comments like that are not constructive and motivational to anyone involved. I wouldn't say my comme...

Re: What will happen to the Squirrel Nutty Golf Hole?

It's a shame they do not re-theme the old holes. I haven't visited the golf course for years as they do nothing to it to keep it fresh. It really needs a good shake up and fixing all the way through. The last time I went speakers were broken, theming damaged, ponds looking filthy, water fountains no...

Re: Quick Questions

Last year on the John Lewis day all rides were open and there were entertainments staff exclusive to the John Lewis day on park. I would assume it will be the same this year!

Re: TowersTimes V3

To be brutally honest. The new site design, particularly the homepage, looks a bit of a mess. While the design is simple (simplicity is the way to go these days) there seems to be far too much text all over the place which makes pages feel far too busy. For me this new design seems a bit of a step b...

Re: The Future of Ice Age 4D

Yeah that's what I meant. The film you see at Alton Towers is not original. It is just a selection of clips from the actual films anyone can see. The money for Ice Age was nothing to do with The Smiler. They are treated completely separately. Obviously though Alton Towers were not given enough money...

Re: The Future of Ice Age 4D

I was personally hoping for a custom film when I went. You know, just a little short film that's unique to Towers and cannot be seen anywhere else.

As far as I'm aware their contract doesn't state it can only be exclusive to them. So elsewhere, Towers for example, can use the IP. :)

Re: Quick Questions

The Woodland Walk takes roughly 10-15 minutes to walk through. You can go from the theme park to the hotels anytime via the woodland walk. All you need to do is press the buzzer at the gates (there's football ground type barriers at the theme park side of the woodland walk) and you will be let throu...

Re: Park Music and Videos

I've been on the huntout for The Smiler music too although no luck sadly.

Alton Towers have cut down on music getting 'out there' so it's unlikely we'll ever get hold of the music.

Re: The Smiler

After riding The Smiler for the first time at the end of October, here's my review (copy and pasted from TowersStreet). The Negatives... Support Shaking We all know that supports on roller coasters move. Although seeing The Smiler in person I was rather concerned about just how violently some suppor...

Re: The Smiler - General Discussion

It's sounded quite fine for a while now. Although there seems to be one 'uncomfortable' train that people suffer some bashing on.

The wheel nose I would assume is just new wheels on the track, since it's been running for months now the wheels have worn in  the track and it's pretty settled. :)

Re: Fastrack 2013

Fastrack isn't quite queue jumping though is it. You have these tier systems in all walks of life now. Take air travel for example, priority seating, fast check-in, luxury service... Tier systems have existed since the dawn of time, society in Britain has always been like this. It's not really a new...

I did say "I would assume". ;) I have seen no concepts. I would guess they are currently locked up inside a set of office draws at Alton Towers!

Re: The Attractions Questions Topic

Here's the general chest size restrictions for the major rides: Nemesis: 52in Air: 50in Oblivion: 52in Th13teen: 50in Rita: 50in Sonic Spinball: 50in (I'd personally say it's more 48" though due to how tight the restraint is pushed down) Those are rough guidelines though and it can vary a lot w...

Re: 2014-2019: Possible Developments?

I've heard the same rumours too (on the 'grape vine', if you like). In terms of 'the good old days' I think 2014 is anticipated to be on the level of the original Storybook Land, the way the Farmyard used to be and even the way Toyland Tours was once upon a time. Although saying that I would still r...

Re: The Smiler - Construction Discussion

The station is looking very dirty already, was a big misstate using concrete That could well be how they want it to look... And anyway, I don't think the main focus of the ride is the station hence why it's so bland, they want attention to be drawn to The Marmaliser and track. Yeah, the original pl...

Re: Th13teen trimmed yet again?

Wasn't it John Wardley that had said the trims are only there because without them the ride would pull negative g's - and that would then rule out Th13teen as being a family ride as it would be too forceful/stressful for the family market?
