Re: Chessington - General Discussion
I think Rameses will be going soon. I think they've clung on to it for as long as possible already (possibly due to it's location) but they know it will have to go at some point so might do it now that they're making ride cuts across their uk resorts. Considering Ripsaw has pretty much gone to the ...

Re: Staff and Recruitment General Discussion
Does the staff accommodation still exist? I am assuming that this doesn't exist any more because it says they don't have any accommodation on the website but it seemed to only be 2008 where they build/bought some new residences for staff. What's the story with this?

Re: The Smiler Incident 02/06/15
190 being let go, is a bit ridiculous and OTT on the part of alton towers, like surely the acident was caused by one person maybe two not 190 people, thats an awful lot of staff to be getting rid of especially for a place like alton towers where they aren't a huge worldwide company on the stock mar...

Re: The Smiler Incident 02/06/15
Interesting developments. If that box is what we speculate it is it does point towards confirmation of some kind of human error involvement in the accident (which was predicted). I hope they are adding a second lot of failsafes though. Whilst this seems like a good addition I think people will want ...

Has anyone tried to swap them with the staff? I read that you are able to do that apparently.

Re: Slammer
^It was testing a lot on Tuesday with the dummies. It did look like it might have got stuck at least once though because a staff member was harnessed up on the platform.

Re: Which Theme Do You Prefer?
I haven't been since dark forest but I don't think that the name corkscrew or the fact that ug swingers was just a swing detracted from the theming of ug land. Corkscrew can be (and was there) a description of a shape and the track looked like bones so it wasn't that out of place. It was also there ...

Re: BH lift music?
^Oh right the way ripsaw97 described it I thought that he/she meant that the detonator music was on BH but you mean the other way around. That makes more sense.

Re: BH lift music?
Is the old lift hill music possibly another Graham Smart production? The whole main station theme (the one also used on Dominator at Thorpe) and another Black Hole track is on this site (http://graham-smart.bandcamp.com/album/doom-and-gloom" onclick="window.open(this.href);return false;)....

Re: Interesting article on paranormal activity at the Towers
^ Yeah I am sceptical too about the ghost hunts because I think it's easy to get wound up and interpret things wrong but I was interested to read about it from Will's point of view having had his family working in and living by the park for decades. Not sure about the photo but worth a look next tim...

Re: BH lift music?
OK, thanks. (I thought that I had got that date off the photo archive but maybe that was the date of the actual photos not the retheme.)Shockadelica wrote:If memory serves me right, the music appeared along with the steampunk re-theme, which I think was actually 1996 For Black Hole.

Re: BH lift music?
I've just found the space mountain advert on YouTube (can't link on mobile for some reason) but I do think that it is the same song. Intriguing. I know that the black hole was inspired by SM so it seems plausible. Edit: Andy Quinn has the Space Mountain advert on his website so it appears that it is...

Thanks for the full link and ID. I'd only ever found the last half of the track online.

Interesting article on paranormal activity at the Towers
Not sure whether this has been posted before or not but it is an interesting read nonetheless.

Re: Future Plans for the Towers themselves
It's normally April- early September :) OK, thanks. Are they really regular? They aren't guided tours, the Towers are just open to the public between those dates. I think many in here would like there to be tours, but currently there isn't :) OK, thanks for the info. I've seen video of the special ...

Re: Future Plans for the Towers themselves
How often are the towers open to tour? I haven't been in a few years but don't remember this option being available at the time. I may have just missed it though. It's good that they are doing tours regularly.
