Re: Blackpool Pleasure Beach General Discussion

I think they get a lot of negative press because of a past reputation, the staff were great last year and a lot of people praised them, but it seemed to go unnoticed outside of the PB fan community. You mean like last year when we enquired a few minutes before ride close if the Grand National was s...

Re: Slammer: Staying or going?

I quite like Slammer, but you have to work very hard for your enjoyment.

The bit where you're going forwards and 'over-the-top' is amazing, but you have to put up with an awful lot of other time wasting and the boring backwards bit for those few moments.

Re: Disneyland: General Discussion 2012

That is nothing short of stunning. Those animatronics are breathtaking. Steals the crown from Ursula (in the same park!) for world's best animatronic. I know it's easier as they're non-biological characters, but these must be the first animatronics to 100% completely represent their characters perfe...

Re: Duel - General Discussion

Efteling, Islands of Adventure, EPCOT, Disneyland California and DisneySea are all parks where a dark ride is the most popular ride on park, it can be done!

Re: Re: Chessington World Of Adventures: General Discussion

Merlin's poor maintenance and neglect of their parks finally has very real and very sad consequences.

Thoughts with the girl and her family.

Re: Efteling: Aquaruna 2012, Hartenhof 2015.

The year 2000 was the international year of the carousel, created by the IAAPA. All my life I have been fascinated by carousels and it seemed like a carousel festival where we organize the most beautiful and special rides from Europe to the Big Ben would win. We have time for ads placed in various ...

Some obvious ones:

Feeling Oblivion by Turin Brakes for Oblivion
Spinning Around by Kylie for Spinball
Let's Go Round Again by Average White Band for RMT

Re: Alton Towers: Songs That Fit Perfectly With Rides

I've been round Nemesis a few times with an iPod in a zip-up pocket and earphones in. :)

I remember listening to Mighty Wings by Cheap Trick and Smells Like Teen Spirit, both worked quite well!

Re: Efteling: Aquaruna 2012, Hartenhof 2015.

My hope: that when (if) Hartenhof opens, it'll be such a major attraction that it'll permanently move the park up a league, to the point where they'll be closing after dusk every day, like Disney (presumably) do.

Re: Thorpe Park 2015 Coaster

The two big coaster types they don't have are wooden and an airtime coaster.

Re: Thorpe Park 2015 Coaster

Something that isn't the same dark and depressing 'apocalyptic' or 'abandoned' theme that we've seen repeated ad nauseam at Merlin (Th13teen, SW7, Swarm, Nemesis, Oblivion, Saw, Raptor, Rita). I want to see a positive theme of some kind. Just anything, as long as it's not about dilapidation and decay!

It won't be Asterix.

Outside possibility of Futuroscope? I think Nigloland is still the most likely candidate. :)

New MACK launch for France?

On a recent article from a News Magazine at Europa Park . In this magazine it says that MACK Rides has 2 Customers for their Megacoaster . We currently know that the first Mack's megacoaster will be for Etnaland in Sicily for 2013 and the second one will be for France . Now the question is which pa...

Re: Thorpe Park 2013: Possible Ride Discussion

Something that was mooted here and there during South Meet (and I honestly don't know whether this is complete conjecture, or whether there's some substance behind it, and nor do I know where it originated...) was the idea that Vengeance from the London Dungeons may well be relocated to Thorpe next...

Do we? I can't think of a single example of this. DCA is more of a refresh than an "entire park retheme".

Re: People smoking marijuana outside the park entrance...

You can cite what you want. It is mind-wrecking and I've seen more than enough evidence of that in my lifetime than to be told any different by any study from people that claim red wine causes cancer one week and prevents it the next. I think you're confusing the Daily Mail with a peer-reviewed aca...

Re: People smoking marijuana outside the park entrance...

*sigh* Do we have to cite the numerous peer-reviewed studies and assessments that repeatedly find that cannabis is less dangerous than alcohol and tobacco, both are which are sold in the park?
